Michael Wood is the company’s legal counsel, who specialises in providing advice to private individuals and families – whether UK resident or non-resident; domiciled or non-domiciled - particularly regarding tax planning, but more broadly in relation to their overall financial affairs. He offers solutions at a strategic level, ranging from the formation of trusts and the writing of wills to the establishment of companies and partnerships within families.

Michael draws on a depth of experience, gained in particular through 30 years with top 100 central London law firm, Bircham Dyson Bell, latterly as its managing partner. He continues to be personal advisor to a number of high net worth families, bringing a commercial and sometimes novel approach to private client issues and he has worked with clients of Philip T English for over 20 years.

He teaches private client and tax law at The College of Law – the major institution for teaching solicitors – and runs regular courses for private client lawyers. He is a former editor of Capital Taxes and Estate Planning (Longman) and continues to write for and edit a range of tax services publications.

Recommended by The Legal 500 for his private client work, he has been shortlisted as Private Client Lawyer of the Year.

Michael’s leisure interests include his children, cricket, rugby, reading, food and drink; he has eclectic tastes in music - ranging from opera to The Grateful Dead – and he enjoys his Harley-Davidson which he rides from his home in North Norfolk.
